Katie Taylor (9-0, 4KO’s) will be defending her World Boxing Association (WBA) World Female Lightweight Title against Kimberley Connor (13-3-2, 5KO’s) on July 28th at the O2 Arena in London.
Taylor, whose estranged father Pete was wounded in a shooting in Bray Boxing club last week, will be in action on the undercard of the heavyweight clash between the UK’s Dillian Whyte and New Zealand’s Joseph Parker – both of whom have previously lost to World champion Anthony Joshua.
Connor will earn the biggest pay cheque of her career for the fight in which she will be complete outsider. But she gets her opportunity as she has been nominated as a mandatory challenger by the IBF.
The Taylor camp had hoped that they could entice the WBO lightweight champion Rose Volante to London for a reunification clash against Katie.
The fight will take place on the undercard of Dillian Whyte taking on Joseph Parker in a highly anticipated heavyweight attraction and be broadcast Taylor vs Connor live on Sky Sports Box Office.
